Project Overview
NOVA is a simple command-line personal computer assistant written in Python. It allows the user to interact with a Windows computer by entering text commands instead of manually performing common tasks.
NOVA can perform several everyday tasks. It can display the current date and time, open selected applications installed on Windows, open commonly used websites, search the web using the computer's default browser, display basic system information, and create and manage simple reminders.
The Challenge
Many simple computer tasks require users to switch between different applications, menus, and websites. Even tasks such as checking system information, opening frequently used resources, searching the web, or setting a reminder can involve several manual steps.
The challenge was to create a simple assistant that could bring these everyday operations together while keeping the application lightweight and easy to understand.
The Solution
NOVA solves this by providing a centralized command-line interface where users can enter commands to perform different tasks on their Windows computer.
Python handles the command processing and connects each command to the appropriate functionality, such as retrieving the current date and time, launching applications or websites, opening web searches, retrieving basic system information, and managing reminders.
